Alvear 3 Miradas
Bodegas Alvear are one of the oldest wineries in Spain with a heritage stretching back to 1729. Their range of wines spans everything from the driest of finos to the sweetest of PXs, all made with the region’s Pedro Ximenez grape.
This wine is part of their 3 Miradas project which focuses on the affect of soil and micro-climate on wine. It is the Vino de Pueblo (so a blend of grapes taken from 2 different estates) and is one of their “Tinaja” wines. The wine is left under a layer of “Flor” (the yeast that is synonomous with generous wines and sherry) in the earthenware Tinajas, used traditionally in the Montilla-Moriles region, for 8 months before being bottled.
The result is an off-dry, clean white with plenty of acidity to keep it lively and fresh. There is a hint of pungency from the Flor and in the mouth it has apple, peach stones and traces of honey mingling with the minerality. A fantastic wine to pair with food, especially cured meats and cheeses.
Allergens: Contains sulphites.
