Josep Foraster Blanc Seleccio
Mas Foraster was already a winery in 1828, but was properly expanded by Ramon Foraster in the early 20th Century. Much of the vineyard was lost during the Civil War and was only regained in the 60s by Josep Foraster Rosello who sold much of the grapes to a local co-operative and used the land for agriculture and farming. The winery as it exists today was set up in 1995 by Joesp Foraster Civit who had the vision of using the vines to make their own wines. Theser days the winery is run by a number of family members including Josep’s sister, Julieta, and her son, Ricard, following the early passing of Josep in 1999.
Some of the wine is aged in barrel with the rest ageing in concrete “eggs” for 3 years. The wine is full bodied and unctuous with notes of roasted pineapple and honeyed lychee balanced with zesty notes of green bell-pepper and floral aromas. A superb wine that has the potential for further ageing but is delicious to drink right now.
