Mas d’en Gil is one of the most prestigious wineries in Priorat, itself one of the most exciting Spanish DOs of the moment. The Rovira family bought the 125 hectare estate in 1981, which benefits from slate soil, a micro-climate of broad temperature ranges and warm, humid air from south easterly breezes. Taking advantage of the unrivalled natural conditions of the land and combining tradition and technology, they now produce unique and complex wines.
The Coma Vella Priorat is cherry in colour with a ruby rim. It has fresh aromas of ripe fruit, including distinct hints of plum and fig, on a balsamic background with underlying notes of smoke. In the mouth it has a balanced and vivid entry. The finish is long with lingering notes of spice, black pepper and liquorice.
