Galencia is a red wine from Priorat that was made at the Domini de la Cartoixa winery. The winery is located in the town of El Molar where interestingly the name refers to the monks of Scaladei that have cultivated the vineyards, since the twelfth century.
This wine has a blend of four grapes coming from fourteen plots where ecological agriculture practices are applied. From here the grapes are manually selected before fermentation. Each grape type is fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, a soft pressing of the skins is followed by malolactic fermentation. The grapes are then combined and enter the barrels remaining there for 12 months where they are then bottled. The wine spends a further 24 months ageing in the bottle before being sold.
To taste we have a bold and dry wine with nuances of black fruit and dark chocolate.
