Sierra de Toloño wines come from vines grown on calcareous clay are at 650m in Labastida – one of the highest vineyards of the Rioja region. The mountains of the Sierra de Toloño protect the vines from northerly winds and create a special microclimate, cold because it is so high, but dry with the Mediterranean influence. These conditions are perfect for the grapes to ripen fully over a long period of time. The ripeness comes slowly, retaining natural acidity.
With vineyards in various locations surrounding the Sierra de Toloño, this wine is made from fresh Viura grapes hand-harvested from the small plots around the foot of the mountains. The primary aroma of white flowers gives way to the elegant and complex background with subtle notes of toasted pastry. With a surrounding and silky body, this wine has a long lasting acidity due to the high levels of lime in the earth it comes from.
