Mas d’en Gil is one of the most prestigious wineries in Priorat, and is one of the most exciting Spanish DOs of the moment. The estate benefits from slate soil, a micro-climate of broad temperature ranges and warm, humid air from south easterly breezes. Taking advantage of the unrivalled natural conditions of the land and combining tradition and technology, they now produce unique and complex wines.
Aged for six months in French oak, the full-bodied Coma Blanca is light gold in colour with strong barrel notes of vanilla and smoke, and lots of honeysuckle. It has a fullness in the mouth and creamy texture, with sweet hints of currants, honey and marmalade. With good mineral content and a persistent finish, this sensational wine should reach even greater heights if kept in the bottle and drunk over the next six to eight years.
