Created in 1973 and situated on the outskirts of Logroño in Rioja Alta, Bodegas Olarra’s winery is known locally as “the Cathedral of La Rioja”. The clay and chalky soil of the vineyard is watered by both the rain and the river Ebro, while the area also benefits from warm sunshine and the climatic influence of the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts.
Produced in oak barrels from Missouri and central France, this wine is aged for eighteen months and is only made on exceptional years when the correct conditions are met. This is a wine to be stored and enjoyed over time with the flavours developing in bottle. It has a dark ruby red colour with aromatic complexity including red fruits, spices and smoky notes. On the palate, it is long, well structured and of great finesse, with a fruity aftertaste.
