Bodegas Muga has been a family business ever since its creation in 1932, which has gained international recognition and acclaim through its meticulous adherence to traditional wine-making techniques. Only around 6,000 bottles of the Aro Rioja have been made, making it highly sought after. It is aged for six months in wooden vats, 18 months in new French oak barrels and at least 12 months in the bottle. If you enjoy the finest red wines of the world then this one is for you, with wine critic Robert Parker giving it a score of 96 out of 100.
The Aro Rioja has an elegant red colour with violet hues which hint at a well preserved youthfulness. In the intense, clean and subtle aroma there is a subtle mingling of fruit nuances of ripe red berries with hints of spices. On the palate it has lots of flavour, evolving into a meaty mouth-feel. It is powerful, though modulated tannins carry the wine onwards into a long, promising finish. Overall a complex, supple, enjoyable wine with excellent potency
