Bodegas Muga is a family business established in 1932. Since then it has gained international recognition and acclaim through its meticulous adherence to traditional wine-making techniques.
The vineyards for this cava are in the same area as the vineyards of Prado Enea. North facing slopes protect the vines from excessive heat and the grapes are picked around 3 weeks earlier than the grapes for the Muga Blanco with very minimal pressure as extraction needs to be very delicate for this wine. After spending time in barrel between September and April the wine is bottled and undergoes a second fermentation in bottle over a 20-22mth ageing period. Ready to drink straight away this is also a great wine to keep in bottle.
This is a magnificent cava with delicate bubbles. It has tangy fruit and floral aromas, while the background hints at honey, vanilla and liqueurs. The combination of fruit, acidity and fine lees results in a surprising fullness; the fruity notes and dominant spices return in the aftertaste. The cava is excellent for drinking straight away, though the characteristics of the grapes provide it with great ageing potential.
